The FNP-45 USG features double-action/single-action (DA/SA) operation with a manual thumb safety (MS). Its high-capacity polymer frame is offered in a choice of matte black or Flat Dark Earth (FDE) tan, and features both textured and checkered surfaces for enhanced operator grip along with an integrated accessory rail for mounting tactical lights or lasers. The FNP-45 USG’s barrel is cold hammer-forged stainless steel and the stainless steel slide has either a matte silver finish or a hard, matte black Melonite® finish for added durability.
The FNP-45 is a solid, well-built service pistol ideally suited for law enforcement, military, and as a defensive weapon for the rest of us. While large, it is not excessively heavy, having a lightweight polymer frame. The frame comes with interchangeable arched and flat backstraps to offer some adjustability to the feel of the weapon. One insert is easily swapped for another by using a small nail, paperclip, or wire to push into the hole in the insert. Weighing in at just slightly over two pounds, the FNP-45 balances very well.
